Survey Ranks Pittsburgh Near Top For Wireless

A Pittsburgh-based company that provides wireless hotspots has come up with their own study saying that (surprise, surprise) they believe that Pittsburgh has more hotspots per people than anywhere else. While having to wonder just how biased such a company might be, you also need to wonder who really cares how many hotspots there are per person. The real issue is actual coverage of area. I also wonder just how they counted "hotspots". They say that San Francisco is the city with the highest number of hotspots at 143, which sounds ridiculously low. It sounds as though they're actually counting commercial hotspots provided by companies like T-Mobile and Wayport, rather than including the numerous free and open hotspots that are provided as well - which are a much more accurate way of accounting just how wirelessly connected a city is.
