Centrino: Lies, Damned Lies; And Battery Benchmarks
The press loves to take certain announcements at face value. Now Guy Kewney is here to cut through some of the hype surrounding Intel's "wireless" Centrino chip. He points out that the hype surrounding the "longer battery life" is ridiculous. It only makes sense because the mobile Pentium 4 chip had such terrible battery life (something my Pentium 4 laptop and it's 1-hour battery life can attest to), that bringing the new chip back up to par with Pentium III battery life seems like an "advancement".
