Mobile Phones To Join The War On Crime

Earlier this week, we had an article about how mobile phones were used to catch some crooks in Italy. It seems that people think this may be a wave of the future for mobile phones. People are talking about all sorts of ways that folks with mobile phones and camera phones can help take a bite out of crime. Whether it’s taking pictures of suspected crooks, or just using text messages to alert people to a their home alarm going off, mobile phones are becoming about much more than just being a phone. Of course, if the system is to be used for more advanced things like terrorist alerts, there’s still a huge question about how well the system will hold up under the stress of sending out millions of messages – at the same time that many people will be trying to communicate with each other. So long as the phones aren’t being relied on for anything vital, it’s okay.
