Siemens Adds New Luxury Handset Brand
Siemens is trying to move upscale in marketing their mobile phones, and are unleashing a new brand, Xelibri, (could they have picked a more impossible to pronounce name?) to sell the sleeker, hipper, more expensive devices. This isn't quite to the level of Nokia's Vertu $20,000 luxury phones. Instead, these are in the $200 to $400 range. However, they are being targeted at people as their second (or third) phone for showing off. For years, the various handset makers (realizing the market was saturating) have been pushing for ways to convince people that they need multiple phones for multiple occassions. This is just the latest effort in that space.
