AT&T Idol
AT&T Wireless has just signed a deal with Fox to sponsor the American Idol tv show. AT&T Wireless customers will be able to vote for their favorite contestants via text message. In addition AT&T will offer related ringtone downloads, mMode applications, and the co-marketing promos. It's too bad that voting is limited to AT&T customers, this could have been a great opportunity to raise the profile of text messaging in the US for all carriers. I doubt that the exclusvity will gain AT&T a significant number of new customers. However if voting was open to all carriers it could have increased SMS traffic across networks.
