Phone Units Join in Effort for Seamless Wireless Roaming

Motorola, Proxim, and Avaya are all teaming up to work on seamless wireless roaming among different wireless networks. It's about time that someone made a serious effort on this front. The idea is that your computer or your phone (or whatever you have that has a wireless connection) will simply search out the best connection, and keep a constant connection as you move about. While there are a ton of technology hurdles to deal with, this is going to become increasingly important in driving adoption of various wireless technologies. Most people don't really want to think about whether or not they're using WiFi or bluetooth or 3G or GPRS or who knows what - and they don't want to worry about losing a signal or moving "out of range". They just want the wireless connection to work, and to keep working, no matter where they go.
