M-Commerce Alive And Well in Singapore
A few years back wireless news was dominated by m-commerce announcements. Since then the hype has died a quiet death. M-commerce still exists but the applications are focused on solving specific problems rather than allowing user to buy pet food on their mobile phones. In Singapore they just launched one of my favorite m-commerce applications, paying for parking. Users register their credit card and billing info with Telemoney which allows them to play for parking, taxis and even photo prints. Some might argue that all these service do is replace credit cards. But in some cases paying with your phone maybe faster than whipping out card, having the transaction validated, waiting for a receipt and signing.
