End Of An Era For Vodafone
Led by Chris Gent, Vodafone became the world's largest wireless operator through a series of aggressive acquisitions. Gent just announced plans to retire next year, signaling the end of an era for Vodafone. Under Gent, Vodafone built a global footprint and brand. Now comes the really hard part of making that strategy pay off and showing the value of being a global operator. So it shouldn't be a surprise that Gent's successor, Arun Sarin, was formerly COO of Vodafone's US acquisition AirTouch Communications.
