Nokia & IBM Develop The Wireless Enterprise
Nokia and IBM are working together to create business applications on mobile handsets for the enterprise market. The idea is that by working together they'll create applications using Nokia's Mobile VPN solution for Sybmian-based devices. They're hoping that well developed apps, over a secure VPN will lead to more companies experimenting with truly mobile applications for their workforce. While security is still a big issue, it's not clear that it's the biggest issue holding back companies from widespread use of wireless applications. Right now, it seems the bigger concern is on ROI. Companies need to be convinced that wireless applications actually have some sort of very real, very quantifiable payback.
