CDMA Grows To 135 Million Users

The CDMA Development Group (CDG) is holding its annual CDMA Americas Congress this week. That means releasing the obligatory CDMA subscriber numbers for 2002. CDMA subsribers grew by 31 percent over the last year to 135 million. 18 percent of those subscribers have access to CDMA2000 (2.5G) services. While GSM subscribers still out number CDMA subscribers by 5 to 1, CDMA seems to have better 2.5G data uptake than GSM based on the recent GPRS-is-a-bigger-failure-than-WAP sentiment.
