AOL Signs Verizon
Later this year, Verizon Wireless users will be able to instant messages friend on their AOL Instant Messenger buddy lists. The two companies signed a deal to bring AOL wireless services to Verizon's mobile web subscribers. The deal is a win for AOL on two fronts. First they now have a deal with the number one carrier in the US. Second, they have parity with MSN, who signed a similar deal with Verizon earlier this year. With both portals available to their subscribers, Verizon increases the appeal of its mobile web service and will hopefully see an increase in ARPU.
