More Speculation on US GSM Consolidation
The FCC's spectrum cap will be lifted in 2003 and that means carriers are contemplating mergers. The most interesting speculation is around what Cingular, AT&T and Voicestream will do. Cingular and AT&T are already rumored to be talking about getting together. But Voicestream could help both carriers accelerate their GSM network conversion. The problem is that Detsche Telecom paid way too much for Voicestream, but they need the cash from a potential sale. Could Cingular and AT&T team up to buy Voicestream?
