Good-bye Sidewalk

from the How-to-ruin-a-perfectly-useful-site dept

I'm about the last person you'll find defending Microsoft, but the fact is their Sidewalk properties were pretty damn cool. No more. With the sale of Sidewalk to CitySearch, the Sidewalk coolness has officially been lost. Last week the integration was completed and we officially bit farewell to one of the few online ventures Microsoft executed on properly. I predict the entire site will go right down the toilet. Which, would give me some sort of satisfaction, since the sites are under the same umbrella as Ticketmaster, a company which makes you bend over every time you want to buy a ticket.

    Corrupt in what sense?

    A bully?
    An aggressive businessman?

How about a thief? That is what the professor who paid Bill to write BASIC on the Altiar called him.

How about an arsonist? Perhaps Bill had something to do with the burning of the Quick and Dirty OS people's building.
