Wal-Mart Site Delayed

from the poor-planning dept

This cannot be good for business. Wal-Mart, who have been talking about their "wonderful" new site for quite some time now, has delayed the launch of the site until after the holiday season. I've said before that I don't think the new site will be all that impressive, and this is just the first sign (to me) that they're having trouble really understanding what the Internet can do for them.

As someone who is in close contact with many who work at Bentonville, I can assure you that they understand quite well what the Internet can do for them. The new site will be _very_ interesting once it is online. All they're doing now it working out the technical difficulties and fully testing the site.

Hey cool. All indications I'd seen were that they were clueless, but I'd love to be proven wrong, and I'd love to see anyone doing something _very_ interesting on the web, so now I'm looking forward to it. I'm glad someone here could pass on the inside scoop (even if it is just a "rah rah" inside scoop - I'll take it for face value for now).

I dont understand what walmart wants to do with their site. I've heard plenty in the past that they've been having problems, but the site they have up right now seems to be fully functional, including buying everything (as far as i can tell) from the site. So whats the big surprise?

They're planning on having more items available for purchase/download. I can't say any more details, but it should be really impressive.
