Name Your Price Groceries

from the is-this-really-worth-it? dept

Apparently, a company called WebHouse has made a deal with Priceline to allow them to license Priceline's patented method of reverse auctions for use with groceries. This story is amusing for a number of reasons. First off, the fact that someone would actually license what is widely viewed as one of the stupider patents ever granted. Second, that people believe folks are really going to name their own price for groceries. I'm sorry, but I'll only by that carton of milk if you knock the price down to $0.99. Finally, if you look closely you realize that WebHouse isn't really a separate company, but another creation of Walker Digital, the creators of Priceline. Basically, I think they created this company to show that they want to license their patent.
