Phoning and Driving

from the watch-out dept

Talking on a cell phone and driving are now illegal in a suburb of Cleveland. I know there's been a lot of talk about this idea around the country, so I wonder what's going to happen in this town. Personally, from the number of idiots I see on the road using their phone, I think it's probably a good thing.

Ever since Prash turned me on to the Nokia headset, I've been a much safer cellphone driver. I think the nature of gluing your hand to your head through a phone just impedes one's propensity to actually look around when you are doing important driving things like merging... Not an issue with the headset (though nerdiness is).

I live in Louisiana and it has been banned here for a little over a year. The law is not strictly enforced though. I still drive past cops all the time while I'm on my phone and they never even notice. That headset sounds nice.. it would help me quite a bit when I am in traffic driving stick shift truck.
