Giving Away Books for Free

from the competition-heating-up dept

Bol.com (Books On Line) today decided to have a special promotion to compete with Amazon and BarnesandNoble who are giving away cheap books: they gave away books for free for two hours today. Of course, it apparently knocked out the server. Sounds similar to when 800.com was giving away DVDs for a dollar last year (which explains my DVD collection, despite the fact I have no player).

This reminds me -- I still have two of your books, and since they were theoretically delivered by my movers yesterday (in one of countless, unopened boxes), I should be returning them to you soon..... I'll keep you apprised. TC

Um... yes, been meaning to remind you of that fact as I was skimming through my bookshelf the other day noticing those books were missing... Of course, these are items that don't necessarily need to be posted on Techdirt, but if it increases the post count, that's cool with me. :) Just delivered, though? What sort of movers do you have that take that long to deliver?

Had to use TD 'cause I only had browser access for most of this week (limited e-mail, no YP). Stuff was in storage for 4 months as we awaited the completion of our house (wouldn't fit in temporary place / why move twice). Will send the goods soon...
