Oracle 8i Users Slow to Adopt New Features

from the so-what? dept

News.com has a non-story about users of Oracle's latest database: 8i, and the fact that not too many users are making much of its new features. I don't see why this is really that big of a story. In fact, if you read the article carefully you see that people really do like the new 8i, and they're interested in the features, but just haven't done enough with them yet, or aren't sure how stable they are yet. The article leads in as if 8i is a flop, and then you realize that it's just normal course of business: which is make sure new things work before you use them. It seems to me that the new 8i features are pretty cool, and will probably find a great deal of use in many companies down the road.
