Perhaps Vietnam Should Work On Creating Gov't Sponsored Political Dissent Instead Of Porn

from the just-saying dept

Vietnam has a long, long history of trying to censor the internet, though they usually claim it's to protect people from things like porn. In fact, just a few weeks ago, we noted that the filtering was apparently so effective that the government was creating its own online porn to encourage married couples to have sex with each other more often. Apparently, they claimed, married couples were having trouble figuring out how to fit tab A into slot B and needed some extra instruction. Of course, a new study suggests that perhaps the government would be better off creating fake political dissent online than porn. The tests of Vietnam's internet filters discovered that, despite what officials claim, very little online porn is actually blocked, but plenty of political dissent seems to have been wiped out.

Who is the bigger sugar daddy?

    by dorpus

Vietnam has profited from government-sponsored anti-Japanese riots in China, causing some Japanese factories to relocate to Vietnam. There is also a booming tourist business in hired Vietnamese slaves who tie shoelaces for Chinese businessmen or paint toenails for Japanese women.

Vietnam's greatest public health problem at the moment isn't so much AIDS, as cheap kitchen stoves that blow up and turn children into Freddy Krueger. But we know that has to be napalm from American bombs, don't we? Vietnamese can spread propaganda, so Europeans can make their political posturing and blame everything on America.

Vietnam needs to spread its industries out a bit instead of just focusing everything on HoChiMinh City. The country might benefit more that way.

I guess you are. Taxes, out of control welfare and government handouts - the working taxpayer in this country has been taking it up the ass fordecades. Isn't that pornographic enough for you?

Government produced porn - not that's obscene.

Why don't you offer to build the infrastructure to support these industries for them? I'm almost certain they would welcome your proposal with open arms and it would solve all their problems.

    Tab A

    by Glurbie

I like to put Tab A into Slot A. Putting Tab A into Slot B has never really been my thing.

Funny, he struck me as quite the opposite of a "tree-hugger". Have it your way I suppose.

    Anyway, dorpus? What's that? :)

Yeah, dorpus didn't sound like a tree hugger, just pointing out that vietnam gets some cheap-ass products 'cause their government is too busy making porn and blocking dissent to have something like we have; FDA, consumer protection agencies, etc.

Except the last sentence. I don't think the europeans are involved, and besides, they dont need excuses to rag on us. We work hard, thats reason enough for them :)
