Techdirt Greenhouse Aftermath

from the thank-you-everyone dept

The first of the Techdirt Greenhouse events went off this weekend in Sunnyvale, and turned out quite well. As I mentioned at the event, the credit needs to go to the attendees who took part. Almost everyone we spoke to said that it was the discussion groups and the caliber of attendees that made the event worthwhile. The chance to hang out in small groups, meet smart new people, and discuss interesting and challenging ideas seemed to really get people going. Quite a few people told us that we needed to do this again, meaning that we probably will -- though, give us a few days to catch up on sleep before we start thinking about it. I know that, personally, I really enjoyed meeting many new people and hearing the output from many of the discussions. The goal was to create a "conference of lunches" where people were challenged with new ideas, while getting to meet others in small groups. The initial feedback suggests we succeeded (though, there are definitely areas where we can improve -- and we intend to do so). Here are a few photos from the event, and I'll have another post sometime soon with some of the feedback and coverage we received. Overall, though, we got such a wonderful response that I had to thank everyone who attended -- especially considering it was a first event with an unproven format. The fact that it worked well is really attributable to those who took the chance in coming anyway.

With that said, glad it went smoothly, only wish I could have attended. Maybe next year though right?

  • Hopefully I can make it next time.

It sounds like an awesome affair and I would be overly happy to go to it. This would be the type of serious scientific discusssions that we should use in our world today and I am glad to see someone is doing it. May there have been many great minds there to have partaken in a groundbreaking experience which will hopefully be re-produced across the country.

  • Definitely a good time with lots of smart people in attendance. I heard a lot of advice that I can apply to my startup even though I didn't present. Hopefully next time I'll be on that list.
