The Mythical Man-Month At 360 Months
from the still-going-strong dept
theodp writes "Thirty years after Fred Brooks detailed his experience managing IBM's bet-the-company System/360 computers and OS/360 software, dog-eared copies of The Mythical Man-Month still make the rounds. Introduced in the book, Brooks' law - adding people to a late software project makes it later - is quoted often, but heeded rarely. Now 74 and a UNC CS prof, Brooks talks with Fortune about why people still turn to his book for guidance. BTW, Brooks is a Mac user these days."

I am currently in college, but taking some time off for an internship in the automation field. The first thing my mentor did when I started in May, was give me a copy of Mythical Man Month to read.
It is an excellent resource, and should be a requirement if you are thinking of becoming a project manager.
