Who Needs Internet Access When There's No Water?

from the priorities,-people dept

While some may consider internet access a human right, you have to admit that on Maslow's hierarchy of needs it comes a bit further up the pyramid than some other things like water and electricity (can't do much on the internet without electricity). So, it's not much of a surprise that some Peruvian farmers are a bit peeved at their government for spending money bringing internet access to towns when they need irrigation. Of course, on the flip side, it's likely that some local businesses would claim that they need internet access just as much as the farmers need irrigation.

Maybe the internet access will let them send e-mails to request some water.

Well, perhaps they can learn about irrigation on the internet and stop depending on the government, unless they are holding the water upstream.

Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish, and his wife never sees him again...
