iPod Accessory Market Booming

from the tchotchkes-r-us dept

Analysts have been talking about how Apple is benefiting from a "halo effect" on iPod sales -- people buy an iPod and like it, which leads them to buy an Apple computer. But Apple isn't the only company gaining from iPod sales: the market for accessories is booming, with iPod owners spending an average of more than $150 on them. The whole market is estimated to be worth $2 billion -- so maybe Motorola should try pitching its iTunes phone as an iPod accessory instead of a standalone device.

That phone is ugly, hence its market share will only decline from its already pitiful level!

The ROKR is pathetic and the only way i could be cajoled into buying one is if it took a huge price drop.

Well I also heard its 50 bucks more than the same phone wihout itunes on it. Its not worth a extra 50 bucks to carry music on it...

Yes the covers and add ons are neat and all but there way to expensive. Who wants to pay 20 bucks for a super thing plastic cover?

Why do people think faceplates are a crucial selling point in electronics? See: Gameboy Micro, Xbox 360, ROKR...
