It's The Wikipedia Of Cliches
from the have-fun-with-this-one... dept
In the online world, everyone loves to describe whatever it is they're doing in terms of what's hot right then. Often this comes in the form of combining two hot things (e.g., "it's like Craigslist meets Flickr" or "it's like tags meet spam"). However, just as often, it involves a "the _______ of ________" type mad libs statement. The first blank is whatever is hot, and the second is the area of the project in question. Jeremy Wagstaff has noticed that this particular pattern is becoming particularly popular when it comes to Wikipedia. He lists out a bunch of quotes with people claiming their product is the wikipedia of something. Feel free to play along at home with your favorite search engine.
