Fixing The Landing Gear Of A Flying Plane... From A Speeding Jeep With A Stick

from the all-in-a-day's-work dept

This is quite a story. Apparently, a student and an instructor were flying a Cessna last week when the landing gear got stuck. They radioed the airport, and after thinking it over, some ground crew members jumped in a jeep and proceeded to fix the landing gear while racing alongside the plane on the ground with the plane overhead. Apparently, it took a few passes to figure out what the problem was, and then used the highly technical method of forcing the landing gear to lock into place... with a big stick. Other news sites include some video coverage.

There are very few problems that can't be solved with a big stick :)
