Shocker: Young Males Dig Gadgets More Than Older Women

from the who-would-have-thunk-it? dept

In what I'm sure will be a surprise to... oh, um... none of you, a new study has found that (gasp!) young men are more likely to be early adopters of new gadgets than women over 45. Did they actually have to pay for this study to be done? The point, of course, is that some consumer electronics firms may be missing out on the over 45 female market, but that's not much of a surprise, is it? In fact, it seems likely that most consumer electronics firms are quite aware of that and chose the young male demographic on purpose -- perhaps because they're less rational about such purchases and don't care quite as much if the product actually... um... works.

Yeah, but maybe it's just because electronics makers lack the imagination to understand older women's needs. How many electronic engineers are women over 45?

My girlfriend bought maple syrup-flavored chocolates at the Canadian duty free shop, gave them to her friend, whose 2-year-old kid ate the whole box in under a minute. Shouldn't there be electronic gadgets to punish kids when their blood sugar level gets too high? Something an older female engineer might invent.
