Michael Powell Joins The Investment Community As Well
from the like-father,-like-son? dept
When Kleiner Perkins announced that former Secretary of State Colin Powell had sort of, but not really, joined their firm, some people were a bit surprised that it wasn't his son, former FCC chief and confessed gadget lover, Michael Powell. Well, it didn't take long for the son to follow his father's footsteps into the investment world. The younger Powell will now be working for Providence Equity, a huge private equity firm almost entirely focused on the media and telco space. Powell says he'll be spending a lot of time with the firm "trying to generate new ideas for deals and mentoring Providence's roster of companies." Not a bad gig -- and not unlike his father's. Maybe the two of them can team up sometime and create their own Powell & Powell VC firm.
