Microsoft's Claria Trial Balloon Popped
from the so-much-for-that-plan dept
We were skeptical that Microsoft would ever actually buy Claria, as the deal didn't make very much sense. However, the best explanation we heard for the widespread "leak" of such news was that it was all part of Microsoft's plan to see how the world would react if they did decide to buy the company. Apparently, that trial balloon didn't float very high before being blasted out of the air. Yet another "anonymous source" (there are an awful lot of anonymous sources these days, huh?) is now saying that Microsoft has decided to stop pursuing a deal with Claria, which might not have ever existed in the first place. It's still amazing that anyone at Microsoft even thought, momentarily, that this might be a good idea.
