Dell Says He'd Sell Apple's Mac OS
from the why-not? dept
Jennifer Ha writes "Michael Dell says he'd sell Apple's Mac OS. For the first time, a PC player publicly welcomes the notion of selling machines loaded with Apple's software." What's most amusing about this isn't the fact that a PC maker says they'd sell Apple stuff (it seems like plenty would if only Apple gave them the chance -- just look at HP selling iPods), but that it's Michael Dell who loves to hate Apple. Years ago, when Apple was struggling and someone asked Dell what Apple should do, his advice was that the company should "shut down." If anything, Dell probably thinks that if he could sell MacOS machines, he'd do a better job than Apple -- and would relish the chance to prove that.

Tactic?
He says the same about AMD as a way of wringing concessions out of Intel. Same could apply here.
