Government Wants To Continue Easy, Silent Access To ISP Records

While the courts have found that groups like the RIAA can't have easy access to ISP records, there are still questions about how much access the government should have. An earlier court found that the government had no right to conduct "secret" searches of ISP records, but the government is now appealing the decision, saying, of course that they need such information for "national security concerns." The counter-claim, from the ACLU, is that ISPs should at least have the right to fight the order if they feel it's inappropriate.
