Ukraine Decides Against Forcing All Websites To Register
from the smart-move... dept
Apparently, the government in Ukraine came to its senses and realized that it probably wasn't a very good idea to require all "electronic information resources" to register with the government. If it had gone through, it sounds like all online news sources would need to register -- though, it's not clear exactly how an online news source is distinguished from someone just posting stuff on their own site. Still, as the article notes, this was a good move, even if it's a little scary that the idea was a proposed in the first place.

They're also getting rid of internal passports (switching to national ID) and not requiring visas for EU citizens, which is bound to decrease the bureaucracy in the region.
