This one seems to fall quite a bit towards the obvious side of the scale, but it appears that the main influencing factor on turning employees into malicious internal hackers, who mess with internal systems is a hatred for the boss. The hacking is often seen as a sign of revenge. While this certainly isn't healthy, well-adjusted behavior -- it does suggest that there is a benefit to treating employees fairly.
