Michael Dell Buys A $100M Red Hat
from the is-this-so-shocking? dept
Stumbler writes "Billionaire Chairman Michael Dell has invested his own money into Red Hat. MSD Capital L.P, an investment firm, invested in Red Hat on behalf of Dell in the tune of $99.5 million. It is unknown if the investment firm or Dell himself decided on the Raleigh based Linux company. Dell, Inc. does have a history of supporting Red Hat." Not quite sure that this is all that surprising, other than the fact that Dell is a strong Microsoft supporter as well, and the folks in Redmond might not be all that thrilled (though, the continued existence of Red Hat helps them show their lack of monopolistic power). Either way, this particular investment happened well over a year ago, and is just coming to light now.
