Dutch ISP Suing Dutch Government To Pay For Surveillance Tech

from the who-pays? dept

Apparently, a European ISP is now suing the Dutch government, asking the government to reimburse the ISP for all the technology they've had to buy, install and maintain to help the government intercept internet communications, as per the law. The ISP notes that ISPs in many other nations are fully compensated by the government for such efforts, and they feel it's only fair that if the only reason they're installing this equipment is so the government can spy on people, the government might as well pay for it.
