While Martha Stewart's company said it would be able to handle Martha's jail time without too much trouble, apparently, it's difficult to run an e-commerce operation from jail. The company is shuttering its online operations to focus on its offline businesses. This seems like an odd time to close down an online store -- just as e-commerce is really catching on again, and more people are getting comfortable with buying online.
