After School Job? Acting As A Mule For Phishers
from the how-the-scam-works... dept
Apparently a group of organized crime scammers who were running a spam-trojan horse-keylogger-phishing type racket convinced over a dozen Australian students to act as "money mules" for them. The scammers would send out spam with keylogger trojan horses attached, then would watch infected computers for online banking login info. At that point, they would log into the bank accounts and transfer money out to the student's bank accounts, who would then move the money on to the scammers -- and get a small cut as thanks. Not your typical after school job...
