Is Verizon's Anti-Spam Plan To Block All Foreign Email?

Apparently Verizon is fed up with spam hitting their network, and someone has tuned their spam filters to what might be called an "aggressive" level. The problem, for many people, is that there's no option for the end user, who either has to take it, or find a new service provider. The biggest complaint, so far, seems to be that many foreign emails are automatically blocked -- meaning that friends and relatives cannot contact each other, and even some companies have found that co-workers can't email each other. While it's nice to see Verizon trying to do something, this seems like overkill. Any spam system should at least allow users the option of reviewing the blocked mail and designating which ones are legitimate.

    Verizon's stupid policy

    We have a very populair e-card site: http://www.original-cards.com We had more then 40.000 visitors a day in the christmas - new year timespan. All email to Verizon queued at my mailserver, becuase the stupid block action. We have an anti-spam policy, and never send a mailing, and I had tons of spam from Verizon in the past. Most of the spam comes from US firms using Korea and China ISP's. Verizon should stop with internet activities and go on with their old telephony bizz. Thanks Harry

    Blocking all foreign spam is good. Type in allowed foreign senders option is good.

    Verizon Blocks Asia ISP Dec 2007

    Verizon Business placed a “Port 25 block” on a VzB wholesale client's internet services. Port 25 is associated with email traffic only. The port 25 block does not impact all email to the Asia Pac region, just specific domains/ip addresses related to the specific VzB ISP client. The "Port 25" block was put in place due to suspected violations of the Verizon Business Acceptable Use Policy, and cannot be removed until the other client contacts Verizon Business and complies with our security policies. Repeated attempts by Verizon Business to contact this client have been made since December 4, and the block was placed on December 17.



    In order to maintain confidentiality and protect VzB client information, specific names and status cannot be communicated.

    Verizon Business Email

    To avoid this problem.just don't use Verizon period. I just cancelled everything after hours and hours and hours of phone calls over the years. Some samples of the incompetency is: "what's an SMTP?", "we didn't get your cancellation, sorry", my phone # has never been correctly linked to my DSL account that's on my phone #!?!?!?! and "you shouldn't expect to send email from out of the country- that's not our problem", and "use the hotel's outgoing smtp- you can't expect ours to just work". Not a joke and not just one person. The same thing over and over and over again. Save yourself the misery and cancel now. Oh, and I get 350 spam a day since I switched over to Verizon.
