We Need A Copyright Enforcement Czar?

While the bill that passed through Congress took out the worst of the intellectual property law changes, it did apparently allow for the creation of an intellectual property enforcement czar to coordinate efforts by the government to crack down on intellectual property infringement. The problem, of course, is that no one is looking at actually understanding how intellectual property laws are currently structured, where they often do more harm to innovation. Instead of looking at the core issues, they're just tossing up a "czar" to enforce the current (bad) laws. However, considering the efforts by the Justice Department to make intellectual property enforcement a similar issue to drugs and terror, it's no surprise. Both of those areas have a czar too -- and it's likely that any IP czar will be equally as ineffective. Update: Whoops. As pointed out in the comments, I read that article too fast. These were two separate bills being discussed.
