The Fat Phone And Its Unintended Consequences

from the convergence... dept

Feeling a little short on convergence these days? Where do things go now that cameras are becoming standard in mobile phones? Lots of people are talking about music players and video players, but over in Korea they're way past that already. They're working on phones that tell you how fat you are. I imagine not many of these will be given out as gifts any time soon. There's another model that will let you know how stressed out you are -- and, if you need your mobile phone to tell you that, you're probably already in deep, deep trouble. Russell Buckley is already thinking about the potential unintended consequences of such phones. Rather than just for your own bio-feedback, what if stores start making use of that info? Want to super size that meal? Better prove via the phone that you're not super sized yourself already. Want to stop in for a massage? Better have a high enough stress level to get to the front of the line.
