SBC, BellSouth Team Up Again
from the maybe-they-should-just-get-married-already... dept
While it is interesting that SBC and BellSouth have teamed up to buy YellowPages.com, highlighting the value they see in the online local advertising market, it's even more interesting that these two companies are working together again. They already co-own Cingular (which just got a lot fatter, thanks to AT&T Wireless) and now they're going to run YellowPages.com together. It makes you wonder if the two companies shouldn't just get it over with and merge already. As more and more of their plans seem to be aligned, it seems like the only reason they don't want to bother going through the process of a full merger is the process itself (and the inevitable government scrutiny). They're becoming like those couples you know who are married in everything except actually having gotten married.
