United Online Buys Classmates?
from the but-why? dept
United Online, the service provider between cheapo dialup ISPs NetZero and Juno, has apparently decided to diversify. They've now decided to buy Classmates.com for $100 million, getting their foot into the door in the stagnating social networking world with one of the original players in the space. It's not entirely clear where the synergy is here, but maybe United Online is realizing that their the concept of cheap dialup internet access is running out of steam.
