Yahoo Ditches PayPal Wannabe
from the that-took-a-while dept
For over four years, Yahoo has offered a PayPal wannabe called PayDirect in association with HSBC. I think I was one of about 3 or 4 people who actually used it at one time or another. However, since no one else has been using it during that time, and everyone just uses PayPal (when it's up), Yahoo is officially shutting the PayDirect service down. It appears that in the easy online transaction department, this really is a winner takes all market.

The stupid part of this is that I've searched for alternatives to PayPal on several occasions and came up with no results! Maybe it's really just Yahoo's failure to market their own offering that's the cause of the demise? Plenty of people don't like paypal for one reason or another, and I find it hard to believe they wouldn't have switched if given the opportunity.

Re: No Subject Given
Firepay.com has no objections to using their service to gamble online either -- unlike Paypal.
Shit, paypal won't even let you spend money through them for porn! Imagine if your bank censored transactions like that.
Paypal sucks.
