How Network Solutions Screwed Gawker

from the that's-nice... dept

Years ago, when Network Solutions was the only game in town when it came to registrations, they tended to piss off just about everyone with their policies -- including wrongfully transferring domains. When they were finally forced to open up the domain registration business, plenty of people quickly went elsewhere. It makes you wonder who would stay with Network Solutions? After all, despite the competition, they have remained more expensive and less user friendly. Apparently, Nick Denton stuck with them and has paid the price. He's claiming that Network Solutions has turned off the Gawker.com domain (the flagship of his series of blog sites) for no real reason. The reason they gave is a screwed up credit card transaction (not a missed payment, but some sort of error) on a different domain. Once again, it makes you wonder who would bother with Network Solutions?
