Renault's Brakes Working Just Fine
from the whoops dept
Earlier this week, when the story about the driver of a Renault that had cruise control kick in, speed up to 120mph and wouldn't let him stop, we suggested that this sounded like he just wanted an excuse to speed. Renault is now saying the same thing. They've had the car examined by an independent examiner and said the man's claims look to be false, and the company is now taking legal action against him. He probably deserves a speeding ticket, as well. The brakes apparently worked fine, and showed no indications that they had actually been used at high speeds: "All you have to do is press on the brake. It's not exactly difficult."
