Computer Associates Buys PestPatrol
from the spyware-feeding-frenzy dept
It looks like anti-spyware tools are the next hot thing in the computer security space. Not that anyone has figured out how to stop viruses, trojans, worms, zombies, spam and other bad stuff, but if the various security firms can throw yet another log into the "security" fire that now includes firewalls, anti-spam and anti-virus tools, why not? It'll convince people to pay more, even if the problems keep getting worse. The latest is that PestPatrol, who was increasingly getting attention for having a strong anti-spyware solution, has been snapped up by Computer Associates. How soon until someone goes after Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy with buyout offers?
