Classes Set Up To Teach Senior Citizens To Text

from the new-tricks... dept

As text messaging is clearly taking off with the younger generation, over in the UK they've been making quite an effort to help older generations keep up. Last year, in the UK, they set up a "Teach UR Mum 2 Txt" program, which was mostly based on the idea of promoting safety by helping parents stay in touch with their kids. Of course, it sounds like the kids may not have been the greatest teachers, because wireless carrier Orange has decided to take matters into their own hands (obviously not for altruistic purposes) and has started offering a "how to SMS" class for those over 50. They also learn how to download ringtones, so it may not be just the kids with the annoying ringtones any more.
