Russian Teen Gets Fined For SMSpam
from the pretty-small-fine dept
A teenager in Russia who hacked into a Russian wireless carrier and set up a program to send out 15,000 SMSpam messages has now been convicted by a Russian court. They never indicate what the spam messages were about. Considering he both hacked into the company and then sent spam, you might think he would have gotten into a fair amount of trouble. Instead, he received a suspended sentence and a $100 fine. Apparently, Russia takes the opposite view of the US courts who probably would have locked the kid up for longer than your average murderer for all the “damage” he caused the carrier.

Different method
The kid was already punished when the Russian cops who arrested him beat him severely.
nothing special
AFAIK, he just sent some crude obscenities, so it wasn’t even per se, just hooliganism. Didn’t get to advertise anything 🙂
