Educating Kids On Internet Risks
from the Big-Scary-Internet dept
Just as we find out that parents might want to encourage kids to use computers as tools for learning, there's a study that says parents who over-react to the hype surrounding "Internet risks" may be preventing their kids from learning how to use computers properly. So we've said it before -- adding the word "Internet" as an adjective to risky activity shouldn't make anything sound more scary, but it does because the unfamiliarity with "Internet" things makes people forget that technology is really just the tool. The scariness of the Internet will probably only go away as everyone uses it and gains a better understanding of the realistic risks. Go education, go.
