Sender Authentication Standard Merger In The Works?

Earlier this week we were talking about how Yahoo's decision to release their DomainKeys authentication system as a standard was kind of pointless since everyone seemed to be supporting different solutions. Microsoft had their own "Caller ID for email" (which they released for standardization a day after Yahoo's move) and AOL and others were supporting "sender policy framework" (SPF). Now, however, word is spreading that Microsoft is looking to merge Caller ID for Email with SPF which would make the combined solution a lot more attractive (and could kill any hope for Yahoo's DomainKeys offering). Merging the standards would be a good idea, and it would be even better if Yahoo would get on board as well.
