Yahoo Finally Responds To Gmail, Boosts Email Storage

from the no-surprise-there... dept

The only real surprise here is that it took Yahoo! this long to figure out they need to increase the amount of storage they offered their webmail users following Google's 1 gig Gmail announcement over a month ago. They're now offering 100 megs for free, and paid users get "virtually unlimited storage" - but no details are given on just how "virtual" those non-limits are. Either way, they're going to have a tough time keeping up with Gmail.

I think Gmail is going to have a tough time keeping up with Gmail. If everyone has a gig of space and uses it, they're screwed. Yahoo I think understands this.

I don't think it took Yahoo that long to realize it - it took them that long to figure out how to DO it. Which is why it isn't happening for a few months, this was just the announcement.
